I just wanted to up my Abwärts Live tape from Munich 1982 when I saw this. You will find a great compendium on a great view of NDW, not just Nena, nor Markus.
The Abwärts tape is (I think) from autumn 82 in the Alabamahalle, München.

Then there is that fantastic group Malaria, formerly Mania D. Their LP EMOTION was a shock to me in 83, THAT STRONG!!!

Hat vielleicht irgend jemand am 31.12.06 auf NDR 3 morgens zwischen 00.10 und 3.10 den Film "My Generation - Der Sound der Revolte" von Oliver Schwabe aufgenommen? War eine sehr unterhaltsame Zusammenstellung von Musik und Doku aus 60 Jahren POP. Dabei war auch Kristof Schreuf, manchem noch von der Kolossalen Jugend ein Begriff!
Bitte melden!!!

PS Bei einer Google Suche nach dem Titel tauchte der link zu meinem Artikel nach einem NDR Eintrag und zwei Einträge vor der Seite des Autors Oliver Schwabe an zweiter Stelle auf... Seid ihr fleissig!

Now I have to tell you about a fantastic young group that also comes from Lüchow-Dannenberg like myself.
They use loud guitars, not my favorite, but they use them to accompany strong melodies, that is great!
They produced some fine singles, one or two albums and you should buy anything by them! They have the energy!
The video features some nice places from my past!
Unfortunately, youtube dropped the video. Does anybody have the MTV feature on Madsen???? Just send me a mail, the adress is in my profile.

If you see a yellow X you know you are back home! Protesting against nuclear dump!
I visited my parents on 4.11.06 (directly before more of the dreaded Castors loaded with nuclear waste were to be dumped in my home) and it was really scary to see all the police with helicopters and stuff invade a normally peaceful region!! They were everywhere!

This is a huge file and a wonderful piece of entertainment. If you ever get the chance to see Jonathan Richman you HAVE to go see him! I saw him quite a few times already and his concert in Hildesheims Vier Linden was one of my favorites. A few days before I saw him in Berlin at the Loft, pretty good concert, but not that extraordinary. In Hildesheim there was a completely different crowd, maybe it has to do with the old small - big town. The crowd assisted Jojo from beginning to end (The Beat!). He recruited singers from the audience and played songs asked for by listener´s (well, not always...). I can be heard on several occasions on this tape (btw, it is a very good audience recording by a guy from Hannover, who gave his tape recorder to his underage son to avoid problems). I recommended the Bermuda song, because I had heard the story already in Berlin. It is pretty funny that I heard the Bermuda Strollers' song Bang bang Lulu a few days after the concert as muzak in a supermarket!
This tape contains most of JR's hits (Give Paris one more chance is unfortunately missing, as well as...) performed by a real ENTERTAINER! Who can keep 500 people glued to his lips for more than two hours and lets them voluntarily make a large part of the show, must be a real fine artist!

This is the first of a series of concert tapes you will find here in the next time.

The Smiths live in Hamburg, Markthalle 04.05.1984

As far as I know this was the first and only time The Smiths ever played live in Germany, and I was there! The show was recorded for Rockpalast on TV (one week later they and I were back there for the Carmel concert) and later also broadcast by NDR 2 on radio.

I knew only the singles back then and was very curious how this then still little known band from England would be live, and they were fantastic! Morrissey entered the stage with a large bunch of flowers on the back of his jeans, a horde of english fans singing his name. After the first track he asked the crowd to come closer, because due to the TV recording the ground floor of the Markthalle was blocked for the cameras. Suddenly the fans rushed forward (poor cameramen!) and I was standing directly at the front of the stage (as you can see in the pictures of my previous post).

While they played, Morrissey threw the flowers into the audience, later followed by his shirt. I still keep the left half of it! It was heavily scented, my car smelt from his perfume for weeks.

This was the last experience I could share with my girlfriend back then. Every minute I spent with her after that concert in the car in front of her door is sadly remembered. Still ill was on constant rewind (done manually many times over as that was not a feature of my car stereo) as I did not know another way to respond to her complaints. Stupidity of youth!

I hope you can enjoy it at least half as much as I did anyway! I think the sound quality is pretty ok, Stereo FM recording. As the tape is 22 years old now I was a little disappointed, when I heard it again on my stereo (before I only listened to it in the car), but I hope that Nero SoundWave improved it enough, leave comments.

You should easily find the videos of this concert on youtube. I think I found myself in the end of Hand in glove on youtube! Lower left side at the end of the track!

As there was no clear decision in your comments to the format, I will start with both one large mp3 file with the complete concert, and a zip file with the concert split into single mp3s. I don't know if I will do it always, but let's see.

First I hope all of you had a nice christmas and a good start into the new year!

Then there is good news! My younger brother gave a tape deck for christmas he got on ebay, so expect some rare concerts from the 80s!

My question to you : Would you like the concerts as one long continous mp3 or cut up into single tracks?
